Depeche Mode Visit Los Angeles in Summer

LA Times, via their music blog Soundboard, are reporting the band will be back in LA in the late summer of next year. Here's what being said:
And now there's more good news for me and lots of Depeche Mode fans who have not been enjoying the silence from our favorite British purveyors of snap-tight electropop. The Mode has not only signed a deal with Mute/EMI that will get their next album due April 2009 to the U.S. at the same time as Europe, they are also launching a stadium tour. The rep also said, though he hasn't heard it himself yet, that the Mode's new album will sound like "old-school Depeche Mode, with a big sound... upbeat and electronic." Here's hoping this particular rumor is true.

Depeche Mode Discography

This Depeche Mode discography was started by Robert Schmitz a long time ago. Robert lost his Internet access around May 1993, when I took over. My first version (1.0) was directly based on Robert's 13.11 of April 29, 1993. The Bootleg (or `Unofficial') part is currently maintained by Bennet McElwee. Many of Depeche Mode's releases have been available at various times and in various countries on coloured vinyl. The availability of these releases varies of course on where you live, but some are much rarer than others, especially coloured 7" singles. Amongst the most common coloured vinyl is anything released in Germany in the mid to late 80's, because at that time it seemed as if every Depeche Mode release came out on some sort of coloured vinyl. No attempt is being made to list all the coloured releases, or individual ones in order of rarity; and only specific, interesting releases (mostly the ones that have differing track listings as well), are included.

Depeche Mode Short Introduction

Perhaps the typical '80s electro pop band, Depeche Mode - the name was encouraged by a French fashion magazine - parlayed a charm with synthesizers into huge success on the British charts (where all its albums went Top 10) and ultimately on the U.S. pop chart. Whereas a more traditional four-piece rock band might feature three members playing instruments and the fourth singing and possibly playing guitar or bass, the lineup of this British group was thus described in a 1993 press release: "Dave (Gahan) is the singer, Martin (Gore) the songwriter, Alan (Wilder) the musician, and Andrew (Fletcher) the coordinator.” Though Depeche Mode’s stark, synthetic sound and often moody, provocative lyrics buck classic pop convention, the hooks that distinguish its most popular songs are among postmodern rock’s most ingratiating
